Jaime Jaquez Jr. Chases Dwyane Wade's Rookie Scoring Record, Seals Victory with Butler's Buzzer-Beater

Miami Heat rookie Jamie Jacobs Jr. is chasing the Miami Heat rookie scoring streak record. He currently leads the team in scoring with 13 consecutive games and is just two games away from tying the record held by Dwyane Wade.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. has been making a significant impact in his rookie season with the Miami Heat, averaging 13.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. He is on pace to surpass Dwyane Wade's record of most consecutive double-figure scoring as a Miami Heat rookie, which currently stands at 13 games.

When asked about the possibility of breaking Wade's record, Jaquez Jr. expressed his excitement and gratitude. "Oh sh*t ... that's crazy ... Oh, I can't say that," blurts Jaquez Jr. "I mean, I don't even know. That's just a crazy statistic just to be mentioned in the same sentence as a name like that is just an honor."

Jaquez Jr. has a chance to get one step closer to Wade's record when the Heat faces the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. He could tie the record in a road game against the Orlando Magic and break it against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.

Aside from his impressive scoring streak, Jaquez Jr. also made a crucial contribution to the Heat's recent victory over the Chicago Bulls. With the game tied at 116-all, Jimmy Butler delivered a game-winning buzzer-beater step-back jumper. Jaquez Jr. was positioned for the corner three in case of a kickout, but he knew the ball would go in the moment Butler took the shot.

"I knew it was in the moment it left his hands. I was like 'let's go home'. We didn't want that game to go into overtime. So when he shot that shot and when I saw it leaves his hands, I know it was good," said Jaquez.

Butler finished the game with 28 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks while Jaquez Jr. came off the bench with 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

The Heat are currently in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 15-11 record. They look to continue their winning streak as they aim to secure a playoff spot.
