PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers University men's basketball team defeated Georgetown University by a score of 71-60 at the Gavitt Games on Wednesday night. With the win, the Scarlet Knights improved their record to 3-1 on the freshman season, while defeating Georgetown by a combined score of 1-2.

Rutgers took control of the game early in the first half, going on a 9-3 scoring run and holding Georgetown without a field goal for over four minutes. The run helped the Scarlet Knights take a 30-18 lead with 7:35 left in the half. The Hoyas managed to cut into the Rutgers lead before halftime, but the Scarlet Knights still led 38-32 at intermission.

The Scarlet Knights came out on fire in the second half, extending their lead to 18 points, 54-36, just ten minutes later. Rutgers shot 64 percent from the field in the first ten minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach.
